Image optimisation can be a very powerful Advanced SEO technique if used for the right company. However, optimising images is NOT good for every company. Most company's images are not interesting enough for people to click on them. So why bother optimising them? Even if people click on those images what are they really looking to do once on your site? Are they there to buy a product? Or just to see the image in bigger format?


It is my experience that most companies should not bother optimising thier images for search engines unless the image is likely to generate a sale.

Brand Optimization

This technique only works for Google.com. Google has not yet delpoyed it to other countries. I suspect that hs to do with the fact that crawler has to identify your brand as the authority brand for your product. It must have been easier to do this in the USA than other countries.


The way to optimise your site for "brand search" is by optimising your site and your products for the keywords that people call your products. For example: Some brands call "Printers" "Inkjet Printers". But what do most people call printers? "PRINTERS". Just plain old Printers.
